Music and Lyrics

I am a huge music fan, I love many genres and could never say any one was a favorite. Each genre has a time and a place. I find that each decade has it’s own unique sound! It can be amazing to spend an evening with Spotify and play around. Often you’ll find songs you’ve never heard and fall in love. I was watching a movie called Demolition, and at one point in the movie this song came on that I just fell in love with. It was called Mr. Big by the band Free. My dad was aware of the band and gave me some other songs to check out. If your parents are music lovers, they could give you great insight to discover music they loved. Sometimes, (not always) I’ve really liked the music my parents listened too.

Because it’s Tuesday:

Here are the lyrics to Ruby Tuesday written by Keith Richards/Mick Jagger..enjoy!

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows, she comes and goes
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
Or nothing's lost, at such a cost
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you "There's no time to lose, "
I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind
Ain't life unkind?
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you

I just thought of this song today (because it’s Tuesday). I hadn’t read the lyrics in a long time. My favorite line is “lose your dreams and you will lose your mind”. Makes you think a little doesn’t it?

Everyday life

Sunday

Luke and I took a drive to Fintry Provincial park with the dogs. It’s about a half hour drive with beautiful views of the lake almost the entire way. The park is mostly closed for the season, but you can park and walk down to the water. Oliver being blind was kept on leash, but we let Jazmine run free and they both had a blast.

When I was in San Diego I remember having a conversation with my Uber driver regarding him living in a beautiful city and not taking time to look around much anymore. He hadn’t been to the beach in years. It made me think about living here in Kelowna. This place is an attraction for people around the world because of how beautiful it is. I need to remember to never forget to appreciate the life I live here, and how lucky I am.

That evening we ended up going out to watch a friends band play for Saint Patrick’s day at O’Flanagans pub. They are still not well known but are amazingly talented and I know they’ll make it big one of these days. They are called “Lucky Monkey“, click the link to check them out!

Monday

Luke had to work but I was off so did the usual. Laundry and house cleaning in the morning and took the dogs for a walk. In the afternoon the sun came out and it was the warmest day of 2019 for us. I took my computer, phone and beer outside and worked all afternoon on a new way of promoting my art.

My mom sent me a website that allows artists of all sorts to upload their content. I spent all afternoon Monday doing this. It’s pretty awesome actually. I am now able to offer my work in print, canvas print and various textiles. This is something I’ve wanted to do for years and couldn’t find an affordable, sort of hands off method of doing this until now. This site handles all the orders, printing and shipping. It’s an incredible way to grow my business and promote my work. Click here to check it out.

I’m sorry it took me until today to post this week, I will try and get another post in before week’s end. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers from time to time!

Stay Classy San Diego

In this post I will step away from discussing the deeper things, to talk about the mini trip I took to San Diego. I love being able to re-calibrate and recharge by taking short inexpensive trips. Luke had to go down for a conference, so I thought I’d tag along. The hotel room is covered so all I had to pay for was flight and food.

San Diego:

San Diego as Ron Burgundy clearly states “is the greatest city of mankind, discovered by the Germans in 1904” haha! To be fair though, it is a pretty cool city. Since Luke had to work, I spent day one at Balboa park. This is a must see place, the architecture alone is spectacular. There are quite a few museums in the area including the art museum, museum of man, natural history museum, botanical gardens, and Spanish village art center (see pictures below).

Day two was a chill day! I sat outside facing the harbor and watched boats go by and read. Oh I forgot to mention the restaurant day one which was the Blind Burro! Amazing authentic Mexican food and margaritas! I was in heaven.

We ate at Blue Point the second night and had the seafood tower and lobster rolls. All of which was delicious. For getting around you can take an Uber anywhere for a good price. Our favorite mode of transportation however was the electric scooters. (Click here for a short video of my first ride). They are set up like Uber or Lyft in the way of being able to find one via GPS, and unlock it with a scan of the QR code. It was only one dollar to start and 15 cents/minute to continue.  With this mode of transportation we were able to go through the Gaslamp district, all the way up to Little Italy. What an incredible way to get around with no emissions,  no traffic jams and at your fingertips!

The restaurant night three was Civico1845. The servers were very knowledgeable and pleasant. I had the ravioli all’aragosta, which was so delicious. They also have an amazing vegan menu. The picture of the wine above was from this spot. So many lovely things to see and do in San Diego. The people are nice and the restaurants are pretty swell. I would highly recommend if you’ve never been to check it out! Thank you for listening!
